RESPond® FGC Technology

SO3 can negatively impact the effectiveness of activated carbon for mercury control. RESPond® Flue gas Conditioning Technology has the same ESP treatment benefits of SO3 injection, but also enhances effective mercury control. This technology is a critical component to MATS compliance.

ADA’s Flue Gas Conditioning Technology:

RESPond FGC Technology is an alternative to more traditional SO3 Injection for Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) performance, Particulate Matter (PM) and opacity control. It works by reducing the electrical resistivity of the collected particulate resulting in reduced PM emissions and opacity. Our technology provides key advantages over SO3 injection for mercury control.

The RESPond Additives are an alternative to SO3:

  • Reduces fly ash resistivity for lower sulfur coals or with use of lime based DSI injection

Injection Equipment

The RESPond FGC is injected as a finely atomized spray into the flue gas or industrial off-gas, upstream of the ESP. The RESPond Injection Equipment evenly distributes the additives across the entire flue gas stream. Other key features include:

  • SO3 impacts the effectiveness of activated carbon for mercury control : ADA’s FGC does not
    • Regulatory compliance will be a challenge for plants using SO3 to improve particulate capture in their ESPs
    • Sorbent usage and cost will be significantly higher when SO3 is in use
