SYSTEMS FIELD SERVICES ENGINEER

 

 

Position Summary: The Field Services Engineer oversees the installation of the company’s emissions control systems and is responsible for start-up, check-out and troubleshooting required to put the systems into commercial operation.  This includes development and presentation of customer operations and maintenance training.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:  The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

    1. 100% responsible for following company and customer Site Safety Practices.
    1. Start-up and commissioning of emissions control systems including functional tests, control logic verification & troubleshooting and operational reliability,
    1. As construction adviser, work with installation/construction contractors to ensure correct and efficient installation of ACI systems equipment per ADA-ES and vendor drawings and instructions.
    1. Provide aftermarket support services to troubleshoot customer equipment issues and recommend resolutions.
    1. Prepare and deliver customer operations and maintenance training.
    1. Prepare periodic status reports for installation, startup, and other field activities.
    1. Complete final reports documenting shop assembly, installation, and start-up activities
    1. Assist PEM’s with QA/QC inspections and documentation of suppliers.
    1. Support various shop activities, including assembly of various system components and system controls testing.

    Additional Responsibilities:  
    Position will require 75% or greater travel.

    General Competencies:

    Basic:

  • Installation of mechanical and/or industrial process equipment into industrial plant sites.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including P&IDs, electrical schematics, fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Working understanding of mechanical equipment such as blowers, actuators, feeders and piping. Pneumatic conveying equipment experience a plus.
  • Working experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley PLCs (models SLC 5/04, 5/05, Control Logix, Compact Logix) or similar hardware.
  • Programming experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley products such as RS Logix 500 or 5000 or similar software.
  • Fluency with, and the ability to troubleshoot, various operator interface devices and programming (RSView, Panelbuilder, RSView Machine Edition), networks and communication platforms or HMI programming.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Preferred:

  • Experience conducting electrical loop verification.
  • Experience making code changes.
  • Experience with SAMA or other control logic diagrams.
  • Experience with pneumatic material handling systems.
  • Experience with various motor control centers (480 volt).
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial type 480 volt electric motors and drives is a plus.
  • Knowledge of NEC and wiring practices for systems and applications using low to medium voltage (under 600v) as well as various analog distribution systems.
  • Use of test instruments such as volt meters.
  • Use of tools and power equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection and quality requirements and equipment quality standards a plus.
  • Ability to work with construction trades as well as plant engineers and management.

    Education, Certificates and Licenses:
    B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
    Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens or other PLC certifications a plus.

    Experience:
    Entry level to five (0-5) years electric power, chemical process, or utility industry/power plant construction experience and/or experience with an Engineer/Procure/Construction (EPC) firm or air pollution control systems manufacturer (OEM).
