PROJECT ENGINEER

 

Position Summary:  The ADA-ES Systems Project Engineer develops engineering documents, reviews and comments on drawings, and maintains standard engineering documents for projects and proposals related to mercury emissions control. Completes and verifies calculations pertaining to process flow and system pressure losses. Completes CFD modeling per project requirements. Works with project management and suppliers to specify and procure engineered components. Manages all aspects of reduced-scope aftermarket projects independently.

Duties and Responsibilities:  The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows: 

  1. Develops, uses, and modifies engineering documents, including (but not limited to): equipment lists, instrument lists, valve lists, motor data sheets, document submittal requirements specifically for Emission Control System projects, under limited supervision. Interacts with customer to answer questions that may arise. 
  2. Reviews and comments on Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID), equipment arrangement drawings (GA’s), shop assembly drawings (SA’s), field assembly drawings (FA’s), and mechanical detail drawings (FB’s).
  3. Prepares technical documentation (QA, shipping, procurement, engineering calculatons, etc.) for management and other internal or external needs.
  4. Completes technical reviews and provides comments on customer specificatons. Completes technical and preliminary design for Emissions Control System proposals.
  5. Provides backup for the PEM's on project management duties and provides status and progress reports for the PEM, project team, management, accounting, and customer as necessary.
  6. Manages, plans, and directs the work of aftermarket projects independently, with guidance from senior project engineering managers.
  7. Maintains current knowledge of new technologies developed by the industry, including those in experimental stages.
  8. Maintains standard engineering documents (Engineering Standards, spreadsheets, etc.)
  9. Implements field decisions regarding installation of systems, commissioning and start-up and occasionally system testing parameters.

Additional Responsibilities:  
Up to 30% travel may be required. Additional duties and special assignments are required.

  • Education, Certificates and Licenses:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or related field required or
  • • Equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be substituted for Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

  • Experience with project scheduling software (MS Project, PrimaVera or Sure Trak) required.
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics software such as Star CCM+ required.
  • Experience with control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or distributed control systems (DCS) a plus.
  • Experience creating and maintaining project budgets and schedules.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat as well as demonstrated ability to learn other software as necessary. Basic AutoCAD skills required. Experience with project scheduling software (MS Project, PrimaVera of Sure Trak).

    Reporting: Reports to the Project Engineering Department Manager.
