Position Summary:  The ADA-ES Laboratory Technician conducts basic lab analysis, testing, and reviews to support field programs and technology development efforts. This position provides support to Engineers and Scientists to ensure that the planned work is completed in compliance with engineering principles, Company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

    Duties and Responsibilities:  The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

    1. Conducts laboratory experiments including performing thermogravimetric analysis, exposure testing, composition measurement, LOI (Loss on Ignition) tests, etc.
  • 2. Documents test results; communicates effectively to project manager and/or task manager.
  • 3. Reviews technical reports, papers, and presentations for technical and grammatical content.
  • 4. Maintains laboratory instruments through general upkeep and scheduled maintenance.
  • 5. Trains other employees on the use of laboratory equipment and test procedures.
  • 6. Coordinates field samples including ensuring data integrity and all necessary chain of custody documentation, shipping from field sites and to and from labs. Organizes and stores field samples. Limited travel to support field testing and sample collection.
  • 7. Ordering/stocking lab supplies and organizing existing supplies. Responsible for laboratory housekeeping.

Education, Certificates and Licenses:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's level degree in Chemistry preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience: 

  • Three (3) years related experience as a laboratory technician or industrial hygienist.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation.

    General Competencies: 

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Ability to perform basic laboratory testing following established procedures and guidelines. Candidates who have experience with resource loaded schedules, earned value management, and experience will be preferred.

    Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, and individual should have proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn other software as necessary.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
