APC DEMONSTRATIONS PROJECT MANAGER

 

 

Position Summary: The ADA Environmental Solutions APC Demonstrations Project Manager is a Senior Engineer (Engineer III or above) or Senior Scientist who typically manages more than one air pollution controls (APC) demonstration project simultaneously.  The Project Manager has responsibility for the application and integration of all aspects of the assigned utility plant emissions project including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. The project manager is responsible for accomplishing the project objectives by: identifying project requirements; balancing the competing demands for quality, scope, time and cost; and adapting the specifications, plans, and approach to the different concerns and expectations of the various stakeholders.  Extensive management and technical ability is critical for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:  The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

 

 

1. Project Initiation
  • Assist with the project proposal, as required
  • Review the contract and define the project requirements (staffing, resources, budget, deliverables) based upon the contract with clarification from the customer as required
  • Identify how project meets Division goals

    2. Project Planning. 
  • Define project scope, work breakdown structure, and activities required to produce deliverables.  Includes clear understanding of client needs obtained through direct communication with customer.
  • Develop schedule, detailed budget, and determine key staff, subcontract and other resource requirements.
  • Determine frequency of meetings required to assure effective project communication among stakeholders.
  • Define and plan quality assurance measures.
  • Identify project risks and develop an associated risk management plan.

    3. Project Execution. 
  • Coordinate people and resources, as well as integrate and perform the activities of the project in accordance with the plan.
  • The project manager is typically also the technical lead on the project. In this role, applies advanced technical aptitude via detailed understanding of project components and technical areas.

    4. Project Monitoring and Controlling. Monitor and control all aspects of project work including scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk.  Coordinates cost and resource management with accounting department and company management.  Assures client invoicing is completed accurately.  Coordinates all proper technical review document control, including: communications, drawings, proposals, contracts, etc.

     

     

    5. Project Closure.  Verifies all deliverables have been completed, all payments received, and there are no outstanding obligations or liabilities.  Formally closes project.

     



    Additional Responsibilities:   Train and supervise staff. Overtime may be required.  Willingness to work a flexible schedule.  Up to 50 % travel may be required.

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop and kneel.     Education, Certificates and Licenses:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master's level preferred.
    • Equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be substituted.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.

    Experience:
    • Five to ten (5-10) years experience in successful project development and implementation including project management.
    • Three to five (3-5) years of staff supervision preferred.
    • Utility industry/power plant experience preferred.

    Experience: Job titles reporting to this position may include: Project Engineers, Engineers I & II, and Technicians.
